Business delegation to Beijing

The Spanish Chamber of Commerce recently experienced an exciting opportunity as our president, Ms Marisa Flores, represented the SCC at the EuroCham business delegation in Beijing. This delegation engaged in meetings with representatives of the Central Government, focusing on the future of Hong Kong as a leading international hub for finance and commerce.

On 20 March the delegation had a significant meeting with Mme Hua Chunying, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. This in-depth discussion highlighted Hong Kong’s strategic role in the global economy and the potential for further collaboration with international partners.

During a separate meeting with Mr Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, he emphasised the central government’s commitment to maintaining Hong Kong’s free and open business environment. He also encouraged collaboration with European firms.

The delegation also met representatives from CCPIT, MOFCOM and the European Chamber of Commerce in China. These interactions underscored the collaborative spirit among European businesses and the opportunities that lie ahead.

We commend EuroCham and the participating European national chambers for their initiative in facilitating new conversations. Together we can promote collaboration and trade for our European businesses in the Hong Kong SAR.
